As Vogue’s official Met Gala red carpet host for the past two years, Liza Koshy has been able to witness spontaneous celebrity interactions and see all of the intricate outfits up close and personal. Today, Koshy was set to take her place on the carpet for the third year in a row. However with this year’s affair postponed, the actor and YouTube star is now settling for the next best thing by reliving past moments that you may have missed in a new Vogue video.
Koshy has brought her style A-Game to the red carpet both years—last year she wore Balmain couture—but that doesn’t make her immune to the star power around her. “I have kept my shit together around so many beautiful people,” she says. Even two years into the gig, she still gets star-struck. Some of her favorite moments include meeting Harry Styles last year, who wore a ruffled Gucci top. “My whole personality changed when Harry Styles came up,” Koshy says. Another highlight was seeing Billy Porter’s custom “Sun God” look in person. “If stunning was given a personality, a face, and a beat, it would be Billy Porter,” she says. And she was wowed by Cardi B’s custom Moschino look, complete with ruby nipples. “They’re $250,000 each,” Cardi said. “If I lose one of them, I’m going to have to sell my Birkin bags.”
As for some moments you may have missed from last year’s Met Gala? Koshy chatted with Kanye West before interviewing him and wife Kim Kardashian West, who wore Mugler. Before the cameras began rolling, Koshy says, “Kanye came up and said, ‘tonight is about her, please direct all questions to her—I’m here to support her.’” Koshy also witnessed actor Tiffany Haddish whipping out a secret—and wholly unexpected—item from her evening clutch: chicken. “I got chicken in my bag, swag,” joked Haddish.
