11 Best Indoor Plants and Where To Buy Them

Rumor has it that the best indoor plants are mood-boosting additions to any home. When I brought home my first plant, a rubber tree, it started unfurling new leaves shortly after its arrival, and I can confirm that watching it grow under my care gave me a subtle sense of wellness and balance.

While we’re spending more days at home, it’s never been a better time to invest in vegetation. Whether you live in a sun-soaked house or an apartment with low light, there is a plant out there for you. The key is to start small (remember that plants do grow, no need to purchase a huge one off the bat) and honestly assess your living space. How much light do you have? How humid is your apartment on average? Although you may gravitate towards a certain plant based off of aesthetics alone, that doesn’t mean that the plant will thrive in your home.

Some local plant stores have shuttered in the wake of COVID-19, but many of the best indoor plants hail from online shops that pride themselves on delivering potted plants directly to your door. If you’re new to the plant world, you can’t go wrong with low-maintenance house plants like the Snake plant, or a Pothos (both good options for indirect light or even low light). If you’re looking for something else, most online plant shops will explain which plants are best for which living circumstances, and will even send your new plant child home with care instructions, too.

Here are the 11 best indoor plants to upgrade your space, and days, at home.
